spindly, spindly

For people who have joined from my non work, now parked blog, they will know that I have dabbled with spinning.

I have a little wheel, called Molly (spinners often name their wheels) and I spindle to.

That is spinning with a spindle, probably the oldest form of spinning in the world.

And what have I been spindling?

Some gorgeous tussah silk.

Dyed by the lovely Katie, you can see her Etsy shop HilltopCloud.

They were the bits left over from dying and producing fleece and roving for the shop, she let me have them for a donation to P/hop, you’ll remember them from a few posts back.

So out came the carders (like dog or cat brushes) and I blended colours, and then out came the spindles, and the spinny, spinny fun started.

And to prove I can spindle, here I go……….

and what is this spun silk for?

…………….. shush…………… spoilers…………………………
